I am a military wife, married to my hero. I am a mother of three incredible children. I am a daughter to the hardest working man I know. I am a sister, a cousin, a friend and most importantly a servant of God! I consult Him on everything, and am amazed every time He chooses to reveal something new to me no matter how simple it may be.
I have always had an interest in photography, but it became an obsession after my son was born. I took him to the portrait studios, and was greatly dissatisfied with the generic poses we always got. Yes the pictures were cute, but they didn't even began to capture the personality that I adored and wanted to portray to my deployed husband. We counted on these portraits to help create a bond with my husband who for far too many months got to know our children through them. It was important to me that the photo starring back at him was more intimate than what I was receiving from these studios. So my mission began. Since then I have diligently perfected my photography, both artistically and technically.
Photos are how my daughter was introduced to her daddy. Photos let my husband be present at not only her birth, but also at many birthdays for our children since. Photos allowed Daddy to see the excitement in his son's face at his first airshow. Photos of the kids at Christmas allowed us to share Christmas; even while we were thousands of miles apart. Our very favorite photos, are those of us coming back together again. The ones of our family whole!
I like details. I love freckles, hence the name "Sun kissed." I love baby feet, and hand holding. I am a sucker for a thumb sucker. I love to watch a baby learn to toddle. I am crazy about tulips and look forward to them all year! I love the smell of the ocean and sound of the waves, but hate salt water. Newborns melt my heart, and I marvel at the way pregnant woman glow. I cry at the mention of our military, and I am VERY proud to be an American.
Why am I sharing all of this with you? So that you understand that when you choose me as your photographer I am not just taking pictures for you, I am capturing your memories. I want to see your son in his favorite shirt, no matter how worn it is. I want you to get your daughter to giggle so I can capture her crinkling her nose. You don't have to have a deployed spouse to appreciate precious memories. I'm not going to take your average posed pictures, I'm not going to try recreate another persons work. I am going to capture your family, in their element. I want your portraits to reflect your family, your moment and your memories!

Sneak Peek!
Isn't this family absolutely adorable! Mom wanted to capture this special time before welcoming a new baby in a few weeks. This little baby is going to have the best big sister and big brother around. These children were just as sweet as they look. Making my job, despite the rain, pretty easy! I can't wait to meet the new addition when she arrives!
She said YES!!!
Meet Kerra and Donnie. Sweet Kerra thought she was doing me a favor by doing this pretend engagement session. She even went as far as taking a little ring off of her right hand, and put it on her left hand as a prop. She gave me an unsure look when I asked if he could get down on one knee, just for my portfolio, of course. I think she was a little disappointed to see him like that, when it wasn't for real. I had to set her up for the real thing though. When I asked if I could use that ring of hers for another pose, she was past all suspicion and handed it over. I then did a ring swap for the real one..... and Donnie took it away from there. I love all of the emotion in these pictures, and I love that I was able to have a small part in this. Congrats to you both, may God bless you both and your marriage.
Lots of Locks for Love!
Mya decided that for her birthday, it was better to give than to receive. She had 15 inches cut off of her hair. Why did she do it? In her words "To give sick people pretty hair." That is pretty darn special if you ask me.
I was incredibly honored to capture this time in Mya's life, because "Locks of Love" holds a special place in my heart. My god-daughter received her first hair piece from them after the start of her chemo.
A HUGE thank you to Cookie Cutters Hair Salon, owned by the Stock Family in Fleming Island. If you know a little girl who would like to donate their hair to "Locks of Love," the hair cut is free at their salon. The owner and staff were so friendly, and really made Mya and her family comfortable.
